Courtney and her parents divorced when Courtney reached the age of seven. Courtney lived with both of them at various times. Jennifer is her twin sister, and is an advertising executive. She studied at Menlo-Atherton High School (Atherton in California) as well as Tamalpais High School (Mill Valley in California) with a graduation ceremony in 1985. As a high school student she was also a member of The Ensemble Theater Company of Mill Valley.
